Cleveland Potash

November 2010:  Cleveland Potash Ltd purchase Kramer Allrad machines for the Boulby Mine, near Whitby, which include 350 Mini-Loader, 4507, 4009 & 2506 Telehandlers as well as Wacker Neuson 701S Skidsteers and 3001 Dumpers. The mine is one of the deepest to be found in Europe and has a descent shaft of 1,100 metres.  It produces 700,000 tonnes of salt and 2,000,000 tons of potash annually. Most of the output is used in the production of fertilisers used by farmers to ensure vigorous crop growth.

The machines, all supplied by Kevin Walker Plant Sales, of Thirsk, are all working below the ground across a variety of tasks including towing trailers and erecting tunnel support steelwork. The new fleet included five of the latest 2506 Telehandler models which are 2m high by 2m wide – measurements which allowed each to be driven into the goods lift for delivery to the mine workings, 1,100 metres below, without being disassembled.

The three larger 4507 models, on the other hand, had to have all vehicle fluids drained and each cab removed to allow them to be winched down the shaft, vertically end-on.

New Models Launched: 80 Series

April 2010.  We’re pleased to announce that Kramer Allrad has launched a new Premium Wheel Loader range, in which the characteristics of the existing series have been optimised and additional options made available.

The series comprises six new machines (Kramer Allrad 380 through to 780), and the tele wheel loader 680T. The new 80 series offers 15% more tractive force and 10% more tear-out force. What the 80 series really has going for is its versatility.

80 Series: Model 480

80 Series: Model 480

Every wheel loader of the 80 series can be individually configured to customer requirements. Starting with the 380 model, all machines can be fitted with Ecospeed hydrostatic high-speed drive, which allows the machine speed to be adjusted steplessly up to a top speed of 40 kph.

Combine the Ecospeed option with a trailer coupling and the Kramer wheel loader can be used as a fully-fledged towing vehicle, whereby not only tool attachments and materials but also construction machinery up to a weight of 13.5 metric tons can be conveyed. This offers massive savings in transport costs and valuable working time.

Kramer Allrad Telescopic Handlers

Date: 14/03/2007

Kramer Allrad will be showing its new telehandler range at the Munich BAUMA show for the very first time. The new product group has already earned an excellent reputation thanks to outstanding output and the large number of possible applications these machines can be used for. The current range includes three models: the 3306 with a maximum pallet height of 6 metres, the 4107 with 7 and the 4009 with 9 metres, and there are plans to extend the range.

Starting telehandler production was logical for Kramer, as they have been manufacturing wheel loaders for over fourty years. The performance of these machines is based on a design principle both plausible and successful: a one-piece chassis ensures increased stability and 4 wheel steering, resulting in exellent manoeuvrability. The portfolio of this long-standing and renowned manufacturer of construction machines also includes telescopic wheel loaders. So developing a new product group was the next obvious step, making use of the enormous know-how acquired over many years. Kramer then formed a strategic alliance with Claas and gained access to the agricultural market with this renowned manufacturer of agricultural machines.“The telehandlers are a perfect addition to our product range,” declares Karl Friedrich Hauri, Kramer’s managing director.

One of the exclusive features Kramer telehandlers offer is the optional Ecospeed high speed gearbox. They are the only telehandlers in their category to ensure full tractive power with a hydrostatic drive that can be progressively controlled up to a maximum 40 kph for full tractive power over the entire speed range. Output is adapted as required whilst fuel consumption is automatically minimised. Speed and pushing power are constantly adapted to one another: when driving into a pile, output is automatically directed to where it is needed. This ensures even more comfort and safety, and the high-precision controls of the machines enable occasional drivers to work smoothly without any problem.

Industry pundits have commented favourably at the new machines outstanding all round visibility. “Our telehandlers have the best visibility in their category,” stresses Andreas Breunig, product manager at Kramer. Like the wheel loaders, the telehandlers have all around glazing that give drivers full visibility of the quickhitch and the implements. Full visibility of the wheels, too, with extremely large windows and the boom fully disappearing in the U-shaped frame in transport position. Comfort at work is ensured by a spacious cab and a standard all-in-one joystick, pilot-controlled to allow the driver to move the boom with great precision. A switch integrated into the joystick allows him to change the driving direction without taking his hand off the steering wheel! “This gives us an exclusive position in the market,” says Andreas Breunig. The third control circuit is also equipped with proportional technology so hydraulic implements can be operated with very little effort. The many functions of the joystick also positively affects safety, allowing the driver to stay in control of the steering wheel and the entire machine.

Thanks to their robust design, Kramer telehandlers are true experts for tough applications. The high-quality components used for wheel loader production are installed in these machines as well. The articulation of the boom lift ram has been placed way at the front of the machine. The rams, the frame and the boom thus create a large force triangle over the entire lift range. Even at maximum pallet height, the largest telehandler in the range, the 4009, achieves generous output that can be increased even further with two more options: up to 3 tonnes can be raised to maximum height with frame levelling and an oscillating axle interlock! With the boom fully extended in the horizontal position, the 4009 can handle payloads no other machine in the 9 metre class can achieve.

Designed with a long wheelbase, a wide track and an especially low centre of gravity, the 4009 model requires no stabilisers whatsoever. “Being able to work fast and flexibly with the 9 metre telehandler was important to us,” explains Breunig and draws attention to a further asset Kramer machines offer: versatility. Buying a pure telehandler is not always the answer for a large number of contractors who do not want machines standing idle for long periods and short construction times make it too expensive to install a crane in most cases. This is where Kramer telehandlers come in as they can be put to good use elsewhere on construction sites as full-scope wheel loaders.

All three Kramer telehandlers are manoeuvrable, easy to drive and work with, and can be used as allrounders with a large range of options and implements. All machines, either fitted with 102 or 120 hp engines, have high steering angles of 2 x 45 degrees for an excellent turning radius allowing for efficient work in confined buildings. For safe and rapid travel over short distances on public roads the front axle steering can be engaged.

250 and 350 join the Kramer range at Bauma 07

Date: 15/02/2007

SEE THE BASIC SPECIFICATIONS IN OUR NEW MACHINE SECTION

Kramer Allrad have extended its 50 series and will be presenting their 250 and 350 compact wheeled loaders for the first time at the Bauma show. Stable, manoeuvrable and user-friendly – these are the most important features of the two smallest loaders produced by this wheel loader specialist. The machines will target agricultural, landscaping and gardening operations, but value-for-money will also make them of interest to rental fleet operators.

Superior stability is one of the major benefits offered by Kramer’s new compact wheeled loaders which are built according to the same design principles as the larger wheel loaders: 4 wheel steering and a one-piece chassis providing ground contact at all times even in rough terrain. The specific design of these machines makes for enormous manoeuvrability: thanks to their compact dimensions and high steering angles. These compact wheeled loaders are fast, safe and manoeuvrable on confined construction sites – even under a full load of 1000 kg and easily handled by either model. 2,50 metres is an impressive dump height for a machine of this size, and the outstanding drive performance is based on wheel motors offering excellent efficiency. The Kramer 350 (0.35 m3 bucket volume) is slightly stronger than the 250 machine (0.25 m3 bucket volume). The Kramer 350 (0.35 m³ bucket volume) is equipped with a 31 hp engine, and the 250 (0.25 m³ bucket volume) with a 22 hp engine in standard version.

At a width of 1.20 metres, both machines can be easily driven on most sidewalks and cycle paths. Free turning wheels and the low dead weight of the machines results in minimal damage to sensitive surfaces. “Our compact wheeled loadersare much kinder to soils than skidsteer loaders,” says Norbert Mingau, Kramer’s product manager. No paths or borders are damaged when transporting stones, soil or heavy lawn sods. Transporting the compact wheeled loaders is also transported even on car trailers. Landscapers and gardeners will draw benefits from the large number of implements that can be used for a wide range of applications: in addition to the usual equipment, Kramer also offers a series of options specifically for landscapers.

To some extent, another application the new compact wheeled loaders can be used for will take Kramer back to its roots. In the early beginnings of the company, the founding fathers built agricultural mowers and tractors. Kramer is convinced both machines will soon establish a new generation of “farm loaders” with simple handling, good performance and increased stability for efficient use in agricultural operations. With the rollbar folded down, these machines are only 1.80 metres high and hence ideal for applications such as mucking out low stables. Kramer will offer a large range of implements for these applications.

Both models will be available with a cab or a foldable ROPS bar and with a standard hydraulic quickhitch. Powerful auxiliary hydraulics and stronger engine versions will be optional (31 hp for the Kramer 250 and 37 hp for the Kramer 350). Depending on legal regulations, the new compact wheeled loaders can be equipped with an optional lights package for driving on public roads.

Harperley P.O.W. Camp

KRAMER WHEELED LOADER FINDS ITSELF IN PRISON

Harperley Prisoner of War Camp in North Yorkshire, one of only four remaining in the UK and recently awarded ancient monument status, has taken delivery of a new 4-wheel steer and 4-wheel drive Kramer 480T as a general workhorse around the 62 acre site.

Acquired in 2001 by John McLeod and his wife, the POW camp housed German and Italian prisoners until 1948 and has now been developed into a garden centre, caravan park and tourist attraction with 13 of the original 49 huts restored to their original condition.

Mr. McLeod has been using Kramer machines on the site from day one and, like previous units, the new 480T unit has been supplied by local dealer Kevin Walker On Site Plant Services of Thirsk. However, on this occasion the machine has been converted to enable Mr. McLeod’s disabled brother to drive it on a regular basis which has included the installation of a hoist to transfer him from his wheelchair into the cab.

According to Mr. McLeod, “We have stuck with Kramer because they are very reliable, easy to use and do anything we ask of them using a selection of attachments we have purchased over the last few years.”

The telescopic boom version of the new 480T was chosen to enable it to fully unload items for the garden centre from just one side of delivery vehicles due to space restrictions and also to be able to place palletised goods inside buildings.

Besides the pallet forks and choice of buckets, other attachments in regular use include a cement mixer and sweeper, making it a real multi-purpose workhorse.

The 408T is powered by an oil-cooled Deutz diesel engine developing 44 kW (60 hp) @ 2400 rpm and offers a maximum transportation payload of 2200 kg and a load-over height of up to 4690 mm.

Chas Long & Son (Aggregates) Ltd

AGGREGATE COMPANY MAINTAINS LOYALTY TO KRAMER

A Kramer 880 wheeled loader has recently been delivered to Chas. Long & Son (Aggregates) of Richmond in North Yorkshire by local dealer, Kevin Walker On Site Plant Services, to replace a Kramer model which had given sterling service for three years.

Like its predecessor, the 880 is now the main production machine on site and is used for feeding the hoppers of an on-site bagging plant at a rate of some 500 tonne per day as well loading the company’s fleet of 16 delivery vehicles.

Commenting on the decision to stick with Kramer for the third time round, Mark Long said: “Our very first machine proved ideal for the application and the 4-wheel steer system in particular is very useful when working in the confines of our workspace.”

It was this outstanding manoeuvrability, combined with excellent visibility from the cab and the overall build quality that has kept this customer loyal to the Kramer brand.

The 880 is the largest wheeled loader in the extensive Kramer range and is powered by a Deutz turbocharged and intercooled diesel engine developing an impressive 90 kW (122 hp). The machine weighs in at 8500 kg and offers a maximum payload and load-over height of 4200 kg and 3530 mm respectively.

KRAMER WHEELED LOADERS HELP EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE KEEP ITS ROADS SAFE DURING THE WINTER MONTHS

Four Kramer 880 all-wheel drive and all-wheel steer loading shovels have been added to the winter fleet of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to load salt into a total of 21, nine cu m capacity gritter vehicles spread across four depots.

Operated by the Streetscene Services division of the Council, itself the largest unitary authority in the UK, this winter fleet has to cope with the salting of some 1250 km of roads to increase the safety of motorists travelling around the East Riding during freezing weather.

Because Streetscene Services is contractually obliged to respond within one hour of being notified that gritting of roads is necessary and then treat them within three hours, it is vital that any equipment chosen meets a strict criteria for performance and specification.

Following tests of several different makes of wheeled loader, Kramer’s machine came out on top, not only for its overall operation and high level for satisfaction amongst the Council’s operators but also for the finance and leasing package put together by local dealer Kevin Walker On Site Plant Services of Thirsk. This package includes complete replacement of the fleet with new machines after three years.

The 880 is the largest wheeled loader in the extensive Kramer range and is powered by a Deutz turbocharged and intercooled diesel engine developing an impressive 90 kW (122 hp). The machine weighs in at 8500 kg and offers a maximum payload and load-over height of 4200 kg and 3530 mm respectively

Kramer replaces Kramer for North Yorkshire Dairy farmer

Date: 15/02/2007

KRAMER REPLACES KRAMER FOR NORTH YORKSHIRE DAIRY FARMER

North Yorkshire dairy farmer Tim Gibson has been using 4-wheel steer and drive Kramer wheeled loaders for over 20 years and recently he switched to a larger, 76 hp 950 model.

According to Mr. Gibson: “The Kramer is the principal machine on the farm and we simply couldn’t do without it.” To maximise utilisation, a large fleet of quick change attachments has been built up over the years, now numbering 18, which enables a huge variety of tasks to be carried out such as scraping, silage handling and feeding using a mixer bucket in conjunction with an on-board weighload system.

“I really like the Kramer design”, continues Mr. Gibson, “because it is built to last, highly manoeuvrable and very easy to use effectively with minimal training.

“Also, the excellent all-round visibility promotes safe and confident operation around the confines of the farm and cubicle buildings – bearing in mind we tend to be going backwards as much as forwards!” concludes Mr. Gibson.

Hunters Hill Farm, located near Bedale, covers some 286 acres supporting arable use as well as a 140 head dairy unit with an annual yield of approximately 8500 litres per animal. In fact, the farm was one of the first in the UK to install a Lely robotic milking system for which Mr. Gibson is now a successful dealer.

The Kramer 950, supplied by Kevin Walker On Site Plant Services of Thirsk, weighs in at 5300 kg and is powered by a 4-cylinder, turbo-charged Deutz oil-cooled diesel engine developing 76 hp. The machine features a maximum payload of 2200 kg and a load-over height of 3120 m.

Harrogate Borough Council

Date: 14/02/2007

KRAMER TELESCOPIC WHEELED LOADER CHOSEN BY HARROGATE BOROUGH COUNCIL AS PART OF ITS COMMITMENT TO RECYCLING

The Environmental Services Unit of Harrogate Borough Council in North Yorkshire has chosen a Kramer 750T telescopic wheeled loader to tackle a variety of materials handling and recycling duties based on the advantages provided by its 4-wheel steer system and driver visibility.

The Council had been using a combination of large conventional loader and forklift truck but both machines were old and becoming increasingly unreliable.

Following an in-depth analysis of the Council’s requirements and several demonstrations of different makes, the unique features of the Kramer design won the day. The 750T model, with its load-over height of up to 4.51m, was selected as the most suitable for the main application which involves handling material collected by the Council’s fleet of sweepers and gully cleaning wagons.

According to operations manager Ray McLaughlin, “The feedback we received from all the staff, including our engineers, was extremely favourable for the Kramer with its superb manoeuvrability and all-round visibility proving to be a particular bonus around our confined site.”

Another important factor in the buying decision was the proximity of the local dealer, in this case Kevin Walker On Site Plant Services of Thirsk, with whom the Council has already established a good working relationship from its involvement in maintaining the old machines.

The 750T, which is powered by an oil-cooled Deutz diesel engine developing 44 kW (60 hp), has been supplied to Harrogate Borough Council with a pair of buckets plus a set of forks for handling pallets of bagged sand and other items when necessary.

New Kramer Headquarters for 2008

Date: 20/12/2006

NEW KRAMER HEADQUARTERS IN 2008

Kramer-Werke GmbH, the well-known German manufacturer of 4-wheel steer wheeled loaders, has announced the decision to build a new manufacturing and office facility at Pfullendorf, some 20 km from its existing location on the shores of Lake Constance at Uberlingen.

The decision to move is the result of a significant increase in the level of sales of loaders combined with a high level of orders for the recently launched range of telehandlers. These new machines are sold in the construction industry under the Kramer Allrad brand and in agriculture under the Claas brand. “Cooperating with Claas has given us access to the important agricultural market,” Karl Friedrich Hauri explains, managing director at Kramer-Werke GmbH in charge of sales and service. “On a medium-term basis we plan to extend our telehandler range and introduce new products in our wheel loader range which is why we are anticipating an increasing level of business.”

The expected doubling of production by 2010 will not be possible at the Überlingen factory, which is already at capacity with some 2,500 machines leaving the assembly line this year, and so it is hoped to be able to commence production at the new plant in 2008.

This 160,000 sq m plant will be designed for an initial annual output of 6,000 units and, as at Überlingen, production, spares, administration and sales will all be within close reach of each other to ensure efficient internal communication. There are also plans for a test site and a modern training centre.
