Kramer Allrad will be showing its new telehandler range at the Munich BAUMA show for the very first time. The new product group has already earned an excellent reputation thanks to outstanding output and the large number of possible applications these machines can be used for. The current range includes three models: the 3306 with a maximum pallet height of 6 metres, the 4107 with 7 and the 4009 with 9 metres, and there are plans to extend the range.
Starting telehandler production was logical for Kramer, as they have been manufacturing wheel loaders for over fourty years. The performance of these machines is based on a design principle both plausible and successful: a one-piece chassis ensures increased stability and 4 wheel steering, resulting in exellent manoeuvrability. The portfolio of this long-standing and renowned manufacturer of construction machines also includes telescopic wheel loaders. So developing a new product group was the next obvious step, making use of the enormous know-how acquired over many years. Kramer then formed a strategic alliance with Claas and gained access to the agricultural market with this renowned manufacturer of agricultural machines.“The telehandlers are a perfect addition to our product range,” declares Karl Friedrich Hauri, Kramer’s managing director.
One of the exclusive features Kramer telehandlers offer is the optional Ecospeed high speed gearbox. They are the only telehandlers in their category to ensure full tractive power with a hydrostatic drive that can be progressively controlled up to a maximum 40 kph for full tractive power over the entire speed range. Output is adapted as required whilst fuel consumption is automatically minimised. Speed and pushing power are constantly adapted to one another: when driving into a pile, output is automatically directed to where it is needed. This ensures even more comfort and safety, and the high-precision controls of the machines enable occasional drivers to work smoothly without any problem.
Industry pundits have commented favourably at the new machines outstanding all round visibility. “Our telehandlers have the best visibility in their category,” stresses Andreas Breunig, product manager at Kramer. Like the wheel loaders, the telehandlers have all around glazing that give drivers full visibility of the quickhitch and the implements. Full visibility of the wheels, too, with extremely large windows and the boom fully disappearing in the U-shaped frame in transport position. Comfort at work is ensured by a spacious cab and a standard all-in-one joystick, pilot-controlled to allow the driver to move the boom with great precision. A switch integrated into the joystick allows him to change the driving direction without taking his hand off the steering wheel! “This gives us an exclusive position in the market,” says Andreas Breunig. The third control circuit is also equipped with proportional technology so hydraulic implements can be operated with very little effort. The many functions of the joystick also positively affects safety, allowing the driver to stay in control of the steering wheel and the entire machine.
Thanks to their robust design, Kramer telehandlers are true experts for tough applications. The high-quality components used for wheel loader production are installed in these machines as well. The articulation of the boom lift ram has been placed way at the front of the machine. The rams, the frame and the boom thus create a large force triangle over the entire lift range. Even at maximum pallet height, the largest telehandler in the range, the 4009, achieves generous output that can be increased even further with two more options: up to 3 tonnes can be raised to maximum height with frame levelling and an oscillating axle interlock! With the boom fully extended in the horizontal position, the 4009 can handle payloads no other machine in the 9 metre class can achieve.
Designed with a long wheelbase, a wide track and an especially low centre of gravity, the 4009 model requires no stabilisers whatsoever. “Being able to work fast and flexibly with the 9 metre telehandler was important to us,” explains Breunig and draws attention to a further asset Kramer machines offer: versatility. Buying a pure telehandler is not always the answer for a large number of contractors who do not want machines standing idle for long periods and short construction times make it too expensive to install a crane in most cases. This is where Kramer telehandlers come in as they can be put to good use elsewhere on construction sites as full-scope wheel loaders.
All three Kramer telehandlers are manoeuvrable, easy to drive and work with, and can be used as allrounders with a large range of options and implements. All machines, either fitted with 102 or 120 hp engines, have high steering angles of 2 x 45 degrees for an excellent turning radius allowing for efficient work in confined buildings. For safe and rapid travel over short distances on public roads the front axle steering can be engaged.
